Summary
Foundific Glance is a desktop app for macOS and Windows. It is built so that your content stays on your computer.
What the app stores
Everything you create is saved only on your computer, in the app's data folder. That covers scripts, interview plans, scores and notes, practice questions, STAR stories and settings.

The data is an ordinary file, state.json, with a copy, state.backup.json, made each time the app starts. It is protected by your computer's user account and disk encryption (FileVault or BitLocker), not by the app itself.
Anyone who can sign in to your computer account can read it, so avoid keeping sensitive candidate details on a shared computer.
If you used the early version called Foundific Okta, its data was copied over on first launch. The old folder, com.foundific.okta, is left in place and can be deleted.
We have no servers for this app and no account system. We cannot see, access or recover your content. Deleting the app's data folder deletes it.
What the app sends over the internet
Foundific Glance has no analytics, tracking, advertising or crash reporting. Your scripts, interviews and notes are never sent anywhere.
Updates
The app checks for a new version when it starts and every few hours, by downloading a small file from GitHub, where Foundific publishes releases. GitHub sees your IP address and the request, under GitHub's privacy statement.
If a new version exists, it is downloaded from the same place and checked against Foundific's signature before it is installed.
Speech recognition
Speech recognition is used only when you choose Voice scrolling or speech feedback in Practice.
- On macOS, the app uses Apple's speech recognition. When your Mac supports on-device recognition, speech is processed on your Mac. Otherwise Apple processes it under Apple's privacy policy.
- On Windows, the app uses Windows speech recognition. When Online speech recognition is turned on in the Windows privacy settings, Microsoft may process your speech under Microsoft's privacy statement. When it is off, recognition stays on your PC.
Speech is used only to follow your place in a script or to count words and filler words. The app does not save transcripts after the session.
Microphone
The microphone is used only while you use Voice scrolling or record an answer in Practice. Practice recordings are kept in memory for the current session so you can play them back. They are never written to disk or uploaded.
Your operating system asks for permission the first time. You can withdraw it at any time in your system settings.
Screen capture
The prompter is left out of screen sharing and recording using standard operating-system features, so other people in a call do not see it. Glance does not capture or record your screen.
Exports
When you export an interview scorecard, the app saves a CSV file to your Downloads folder. What you do with that file is up to you.
Children
Foundific Glance is not directed at children under 13.
